Blankets

Receiving Blankets for Timpanogos Regional Hospital NICU:

Note: We invite you to include a personal written message attached to each handmade blanket


Fleece - These blankets will be given to the hospital to be used in the bassinets of premature infants as they gain strength in the NICU



· Cut a 36x36 – 45x45 inch square of medium weight fleece.

· Serge, hem or blanket-stitch edges





Standard Size Blankets - These blankets can be used for a variety of reasons - NICU, orphanages, and CASA



· Cut two 36x36 or 45x45 inch squares of cotton flannel.



· Place the squares together with right sides facing in.



· Sew squares together with a ¼ inch seam around the edges, leaving a 6 inch opening.



· Turn right sides out.



· Baste opening and topstitch around entire blanket for durability. 



· Topstitch a large X from corner to corner  or sew a 10” square in the center of the blanket to keep the front and back together. 









Blankets for Pre-mature, deceased infants



Use the directions above but with either 15 x 15 or 18 x 18 inch squares of very delicate colors of soft flannel.   The topstitching of the X or square in the center of the blanket is not necessary for these tiny blankets. 

 Note: We invite you to include a personal written message attached to each handmade blanket. The note could include sympathy and condolences to the parents for their difficult loss.
 


Mitered Corner Blanket - These blankets will be given to orphanages and to the NICU

Large Blankets  -These blankets will be used by CASA/Children's Justice Center to be given to  children who have been the victims of abuse




• Cut a 4 X 6.5 foot piece of medium weight fleece. 
• Serge, hem or blanket-stitch edges
